FAQs

Shipping

When it comes to coffee, freshness is key. We roast in small batches to preserve that freshness.

We ship via Royal Mail 48hrs Tracked. They observe most national holidays so that may affect shipping times.

You will be notified when your order has shipped. If you have not heard from us within 72 hours of placing your order get in touch!

We are able to ship internationally but at the moment this is not possible via our website. Please email info@mreion.com with your order, address and phone number. Shipping is via Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed.

Returns

Due to its limited shelf life, we are unable to accept returns on coffee or tea. It is important to us that you have a good experience when you use our service, so if you notice a problem with your order please do not hesitate to give us a call on 0131 343 1354, or email on info@mreion.com, within a week of receipt and we’ll do our best to fix it.

We are happy to accept returns or exchange on any faulty or unused products but cannot accept returns on items that are in full working order. When returning defective gear, please ensure that it is returned/exchanged within 28 days from purchase. Any returns can be sent to our Stockbridge shop or brought to us directly if you are able.

Coffee

Our regulars will know that most of our coffees are medium roast. This being said, before the beans are deemed ready for the counter, we try out sample roasts until we are absolutely convinced that we have brought out the best in each bean, so inevitably some will suit a lighter or darker roast. We have far too much respect for the farmers and their harvest to give each coffee any less attention than they deserve.

Our team work hard to narrow down tasting notes (profiles) for each of our coffees, however we are aware that this is just a guide and can be different for different people. We often ask new retail customers which method they prefer to use before directing them to a coffee we know they’ll love, as this can often give us clues as to what kind of coffee they like to drink. As a general rule though, we recommend that you keep trying different coffees, as tastes can change over time. Any flavour you get from our coffee is purely from the bean itself and we will never add any flavourings (not even at Christmas time, gingerbread lovers!) but we are confident that you will find a coffee to suit you.

The coffee can be ground for any method you need because we understand that not everyone has a grinder in their reach. However, we cannot stress enough how much more control both Mr Eion and you have over the coffee when it is bought as beans. It stays fresher for longer and is the most important variable in ensuring that it tastes how we have described it to you.

We get asked almost every day for the best way to store coffee. There is a common misconception that coffee should be kept in the fridge or the freezer. STOP!  If coffee is exposed to any big changes in temperature or moisture (which will happen each time you take coffee out to use) it may result in the coffee going off. So how do we recommend you store it? In an air tight container (ideally only ever used to store coffee to avoid any absorption of other flavours) and in a cool dry place away from sunlight. To enjoy our coffee at its best, aim to drink it within 2 months as after this point you may find it becomes less flavourful. It's worth bearing in mind that grinding the coffee can also shorten the shelf life.

Coffee is a natural product so you will notice that availability changes season to season. As well as this, some regions find themselves with challenging growing conditions and this can impact how many sacks we are able to buy in. We are incredibly lucky to work with DR Wakefield; a family run bean importer who work tirelessly to ensure that we have access to an incredible variety of green beans from all over the world.
